they do not need to add mulitplayer since it will likely cost a lot more money than the small number of additional sales it might bring in, especially if its much later after the games launch (though doing a major expansion timed with its release may actually bring in enough sales) it's important to note that netcode -was- beyond the scope of the developers budget and capabilities years ago when this project stated, but now that they have the money to do it they're starting to do so. I spoke to the devs about mulitplayer earlier and asked a question along a similar line, and they gave a really reasonable response. The stream's audience can actively participate in the game through multiple options, e.g., by voting to send waves of new enemies, spawn environmental disasters like a tornado or by donating resources. That's why I stated why it's important these things are added BEFORE the game is released, not 6-12 months later once everyones already burnt out and playing new games that are coming out.
